I've been thinking about what it's going to mean to have a database as the filesystem under windows and what benefits it will bring over good old NTFS. It all boils down to what new features they add and, of course, what we as developers decide to do with them. The first feature that sounds useful would be to be able to store different versions of a file so when you update something you can still retrieve the old version. This got me thinking about SourceSafe, and why Microsoft have given up on it. I haven't seen much information on what this new file system will do, but it seems to me that it would possibly be only a small jump to providing this functionality inside the file system. It's not just developers who would benefit from this as companies routinely need to control documents and files, and so it might make sense for Microsoft to have this functionality. It's an interesting concept and I think I'll go have a look at what's been leaked about it so far to see if there's any mention of this type of feature.

Hubzilla.
I only have one firewire device, my camcorder, and 2 ports on my machine... but I think I should get this anyway... the eyes light-up when it is connected to your 1394 port!

Now, if they had one that was a network hub, it would be cool and I might actually hook something into it.
[Code/Tea/Etc...]
If they had a network hub version then it would be perfect because wqe're just about to buy some more...
